Audrey’s Night Out!

We hate to admit that the last fashion show we went to was a school mandated prom fashion show in 11th grade. The red carpet was actually red butcher paper.

We were both glad that we were for once, at a REAL fashion show, runway and all. And an Audrey one too! Where the red carpet is, an authentic red carpet.

Since this was our first fashion show, there were a few things we noted that was very different from our normal, average, everyday environment.

1). Guys have really good skin.

Many of them did. I don’t think guys should have better skin than girls do. It’s like against nature. Also on the same level as guys who have hair that’s softer than girls and you can’t figure out if it’s the conditioner they use or their genes.

2). You look up to everyone you talk to.

No, not in the enlightened sense. Literally, everyone is friggin tall and you have to look up! And the poor tall models have to look down. See the 2 girls looking down at the shorter guy.

3). You dont need to be a guy DJ to rock a place.

She was amazing- im sure she could have walked the catwalk, and secretly every guy had a crush on her as she scratched away.

4). You have this sudden urge for frizzy hair.

I’ve never wanted to not brush my hair until seeing that. I guess tall skinny beautiful girls can pull off anything.

5.) You get in the serious mode as you hear a speech, and then you’re taken aback as the guy starts to strip down and act femme.

Many many people in the audience didnt know that Justin Chon, was the only asian american actor on the Twilight set. He came on stage with a serious speech – swinging the mood of the night into a completely different path, but he brought it back on track as he stripped down and introduced the guest models in a femme voice.

6). There’s food at a fashion show.

I know, it’s like telling you there’s no such thing as gravity or that LA never has traffic. But there was food and I’m glad there was. I felt like I got to experience a whole new level of cuisine. Behold, what I like to call if KFC and Jack in the Box had a baby:

Don’t hate, don’t hate. I had to snap out of the glorious Kettle One love and sober up with this. This has to win for drunchies food.

Well those are the top 6 things we learned at this event! A bonus tip: girls please wear enough make-up. Wear enough foundation and blush. Cake it on: otherwise you really look out of place.

Thank you Audrey Magazine for making this possible.

Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of their academic and personal merit, desire to uplift the image of Asian Americans in film and television as demonstrated in their essay, potential as demonstrated in their work sample, and financial need. Here are some guidelines:

STUDENTS MUST SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING MATERIALS. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

1. A copy of all official transcripts.
2. Two letters of recommendation, one that evaluates academic and artistic aptitude and another that speaks to the student’s interest and involvement in the community.
3. A double-spaced essay consisting of no more than 1,000 words addressing the following items: Describe your involvement in the Asian/Pacific Islander Community. How does this involvement influence your creative work? How do you see how your creative work will influence the API community or how it is perceived in the next five to ten years?
4. A work sample consisting of a short film or screenplay. Materials will not be returned.
5. A statement of special financial need or hardship.
6. A resume of both your work history and your community involvement.

HEROES, adapted by the Award-winning playwright Tom Stoppard, from Gerard Sibleyras’ French original, is the hilarious and poignant story of three old soldiers in a French military hospital in 1959. The trio survived World War I. Forty years later, as residents in a veterans home and armed only with what is left of their wits and a 200-pound stone dog, they battle old age, nagging war injuries, and a masochistic nun. HEROES presents us with a heartwarming tale of camaraderie and a moving portrait of the frustrations inherent in growing older.

“Line by beautifully delivered line the play proves wonderfully entertaining.” – London Telegram

PAINTING CHURCHES is a theatrical portrait of the complex relationship between aging parents and their artist daughter. A promising artist comes home to Boston to help her aging parents move from their Beacon Hill home to their Cape Cod cottage. But she is ill-prepared for what she finds. Her gentle father, a Pulitzer Prize-winning poet, has been inexorably losing his bearings to what looks like Alzheimer’s, and her mother, abrasive and narcissistic even under normal circumstances, is half-cracked from caregiver stress. What follows is both gift and expose: an eager-to-please daughter’s celebration of her parents, and an artist’s ruthless examination of her roots.

BOSTON MARRIAGE is filled with David Mamets familiar fascination with complex games and language, and his brilliantly terse and crisply paced dialogue. Set in the Victorian era, the play chronicles the relationship between two single women who live together without male presence, who are dependent on each other for support, emotional and otherwise: a Boston marriage. This is a comedy of clever refinement full of the awareness of the socio-political realities of a woman’s place in that earlier time.

Chris Brown? Parody

I am so surprised at how well done this is. I know this is an old topic, but they did a really good job. Jay-Z, Rhianna, and Chris Brown.
